B.Sc fresher resume format

A B.Sc resume has to answer a question the degree alone does not: what can you do on day one. The graduates who get shortlisted are the ones who translate lab work into named techniques and instruments rather than listing subjects.

This matters because B.Sc graduates apply across an unusually wide range of roles, from lab analyst to data analyst to teaching to QA. The resume should visibly commit to one of them.

Put a technical skills section near the top and name the actual techniques, instruments and software you have hands-on time with.

Section order

Top to bottom. The order matters more than the styling, because it decides what a reader sees in the first few seconds.

HeaderName, phone, email, LinkedIn, city.
SummaryTwo lines, and only here, because the target role is not obvious from the degree.

What has to be on the page

Named techniques and instruments rather than subject names: titration, HPLC, PCR, spectrophotometry, gel electrophoresis, and so on.
A two-line summary that states the role you are targeting, because the degree does not imply one.
The dissertation or final-year project with the method and the finding.
Any software you can actually use: Excel to a real standard, SPSS, R, Python, LIMS.

Bullets in the right shape

Bracketed values are placeholders. Substitute your own real figures, and leave a line out entirely rather than inventing a number for it.

Instead ofListing subjects studied as skills: Physics, Chemistry, Zoology.

Do thisList what you can do with them. 'Zoology' is a subject; 'specimen preparation and microscopy' is a skill.

Instead ofNo stated target role, so the resume reads as generically employable.

Do thisCommit in the summary. A resume aimed at everything is screened out of everything.

Instead ofLeaving out Excel because it feels too basic.

Do thisInclude it if you are genuinely good, and say what you can do: pivot tables, VLOOKUP, charting. For analyst roles it is screened on directly.

Can a B.Sc graduate apply for data analyst jobs?

Yes, and the statistics coursework is a genuine advantage. You will need Excel to a demonstrable standard plus SQL, and a project that shows you have analysed a real dataset rather than a textbook one.

Should I mention M.Sc preparation on my resume?

Only if the role is short-term or the employer supports study. For a full-time application it signals imminent departure.
